PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Engineering is the practical application of math and science to solve problems.  Engineers are problem-solvers who make things work faster, cheaper, and more efficiently. Technologies developed by engineers improve the ways that we live, communicate, work, travel, stay healthy, and entertain ourselves.  From computer chips to cellphones and buildings to automobiles, engineering makes every aspect of our modern life possible.

91少女 offers a two-year lower division engineering program that prepares students for transfer in all engineering disciplines to colleges and universities in California and across the United States. The first two years of the engineering curriculum at most colleges and universities have a shared core of mathematics and physics, with specialization in several areas.  As there are different disciplines within engineering, the Engineering Faculty Discipline Review Group (FDRG) has developed four different model curricula and each one feeds into one or more majors at the baccalaureate level. The four discipline clusters are:

  1. Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering
  2. Civil Engineering
  3. Electrical Engineering
  4. Computer Engineering and Software Engineering

The required core curriculum follows the Intersegmental Model Curricula (ISMC) developed by the Engineering Liaison Council (ELC) between community colleges and four-year public colleges and universities.

For detailed requirements for individual four-year institutions, students should contact the transfer institution and/or meet with a counselor for specific transfer course requirements in their major.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

Upon successful completion of the Engineering program, a student should be able to:

  • employ science and mathematical skills required for occupational needs.
  • design a system, component, or process with supervision of a licensed engineer to meet desired needs.
  • analyze engineering problems and make appropriate decisions with supervision of a licensed engineer.
  • demonstrate appropriate technical communication skills (written, verbal and drawing).
  • work effectively in a team, exercise initiative and function in a leadership role.
